The singer who was sued for copyright infringement on the song ‘Dark Horse’ debuted more than 5 years ago.
Katy Perry has just caught the attention of the media when she appeared at L.A Federal Court where the trial was held regarding her song ‘Dark Horse’. According to TMZ, the singer will have to go through a rather tiring day as a witness in this lengthy legal battle.
Regarding the incident, Katy was sued by the American rapper Flame when he thought the singer had directed the song ‘Joyful Noise’ which he composed since 2008 for the hit song ‘Dark Horse’. For those who don’t know, ‘Dark Horse’ is one of the most successful songs of Katy Perry’s career. The song once debuted at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and has been in the top ten for this prestigious single chart for weeks.
According to the lawsuit, Flame accused Katy Perry of bringing in “witchcraft”, “pagan”, “black magic” messages and then profiting from the song. This “black magic” went against Christianity and for Flame it was a white smear for his single.
At the trial, Katy just stood up and stated that she had never heard the song, ‘Joyful noise’, before the lawsuit. She said that the first time she heard the beat was from music producer Dr. Luke when she was drinking wine in Santa Barbara and writing ‘Dark Horse’ in just 4 hours.
During the time of the trial, Katy Perry was very calm and always kept a peaceful attitude in each speech.
